How does renewable energy in Ontario work?

The Ontario Power Authority’s (OPA) Feed-In Tariff offers a premium rate for power purchase to individuals or companies who install and generate renewable energy. MicroFIT refers to projects under 10kW in size from a list of approved, low-impact renewable technologies, such as solar PV.
Under this program, the electricity you generate from your solar panels can be sold back to your local utility for 20 years.
