Early November, Osso joined its Ontario counterparts and took part in the annual Years of Service awards luncheon, recognizing the achievements of employees celebrating their 5, 10, 15, and 20+ years with Sonepar. Of the 385 years being recognized, Osso employees represented a total of 75 years.

Osso is lucky to have an experienced work force. We have over 450 years of service spread out across all our branches (and this doesn’t include the many years worked before joining the company!)

With long-term employees, like Tom Holman who was recognized for 15 years of service, comes a strong knowledge base. This means customers can benefit from employees who know trade names, understand how the product works and other valuable knowledge to use in their daily operations. Long-term employees also pass down their skills they’ve gained over the years to benefit new employees who may still not understand the ways of our business. Our newer work force is very lucky to benefit from this tutelage!

ABC’s of Fall Safety

The basics of every fall arrest system are as simple as A, B, C.

	Anchorage The anchorage is the secure point of attachment for the fall arrest system. The appropriate type of anchorage varies by industry, the job being performed, the type of installation and the structure available, but it must be able to withstand fall arrest forces. The anchorage connector provides a means of attaching the system to the anchorage.
	Body Support The full-body harness provides the necessary body support with straps that fasten around the user and distribute fall arrest forces over the upper thighs, pelvis, chest and shoulders.
	Connectors A connector, such as a shock-absorbing lanyard or self-retracting lifeline, is a device that links the user’s full-body harness to an anchorage. When used with a fall restraint system, the connector must be short enough so that the worker cannot reach a fall hazard.
