May 16 – 20 was an exciting week for Osso. All locations were knee deep in activities focused on energy savings.
Energy Saving and Environmental Week kicked off with a bang with. Oshawa hosted a Wind seminar presented by our BlueWay Group and facilitated by Greg Howell. The event was attended by many customers, all of whom were excited to chat and learn about wind power. Wind and Solar Power is gaining a lot of interest in Ontario and end users can even take advantage of available government incentives. Talk with one of our Solar Specialists if you have any questions. In the meantime, check out the Wind Turbine installed on the Belleville Branch roof! As they say, a picture is worth a 1000 words!
Markham, Barrie and Ajax started off the week shining a light on LEDs with customer session at their locations. Take a look at Pat Shirbon, our lighting specialist, ready to assist with any questions at our Ajax branch event! Meanwhile, our Peterborough branch was dressed and ready for any questions during energy saving week.
The rest of week was filled with all sorts of events. Each location had breakfasts and/or BBQs and training sessions; there was something going on every day at an OSSO location! Customers and staff got to learn about LEDs, Occupancy Sensors and Lighting controls every day of the week. The OSSO ISG Group went to various locations to present to eager customers about Siemens MicroMaster Drives and LOGO! products. Attendees were able to visit our display and talk about their requirements and most importantly learn how to save energy! We hosted an LED, RETROFIT, SOLAR and WIND information seminar for those who were KEEN for GREEN. Elsewhere Kingston hosted an Accuity Brand BBQ and Canlyte worked the room at our Lindsay location. Both vendors were on hand to showcase the latest energy saving products available on the market.
It wasn’t only about seminars and BBQs during Energy Saving Week; our Cambridge location was pleased to provide an e-waste drop off. We’ve had customers bring electronics that were no longer in use such as old cell phones, televisions, monitors, computers etc. Greentec Recycling Solutions helped us facilitate this initiative. We’ve had some great activity as the pictures show! Good riddance to those old TV’s and electronics!
While everyone had a great time at these events, Energy Saving Week is more about what took place during the week. Staff at each location is now well trained and aware of all the energy saving products available on the market. All our branches have eliminated plastic bags; which have been replaced with paper or reusable bags. Presently, we branches filled with staff who are geared up to help customers – and themselves – find ways to save energy in the future!
